Holy Ghost Fire Baptism
Holy Ghost & Fire Baptism is What We Need Today!!!
In Matthew 3:11 John the Baptist gives us a wonderful, strong promise regarding Jesus. He says, "He Shall Baptize You With The Holy Ghost, with fire."
This is a significant, legitimate, guaranteed promise that every believer of Jesus Christ
should expect. The expectation is to receive someone and something. The someone is
the Holy Ghost and The Fire!!!
The Holy Ghost is God. He is the also known as the third person of the God according to
Matthew 28:19; "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost"
The Holy Ghost is God Himself who will guide and lead us through our Christian walk.
He is so special in so many ways, but one of those ways is how He empowers us humans
with the power of God to be witnesses of Jesus.
Peter asked a bunch of new believers a question: "He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?
These believers had only received John's Baptism, but they had not received the Holy Ghost although they were followers of Jesus.
John's baptism pointed every man and woman to repent for the remission of sins at the coming Messiah Jesus.
However when you are baptized in the name of the Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost, you receive this awesome 3rd person.
The baptism of the Holy Ghost empowers you to be a witness of Jesus Christ. In Acts 1:5, Jesus promised the disciples that they would be baptized in the Holy Ghost. What does this mean?
The word baptize in the Greek language means the process of immersion, submersion, emergence or dip.
So to be baptized in the Holy Ghost, means to be immersed in the Holy Ghost. This is
exactly what happens when the Holy Ghost comes upon you. Jesus said in Acts 1:8, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:
and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." (KJV)
When you receive this immersion in the Holy Ghost, you will be a bonafide witness unto Jesus.
You may prophesy - Luke:1:67
You will receive wisdom - Acts 6:3
You will receive revelation - Luke 2:26
What is the Fire?
John the Baptist also mentioned a second result of the Baptism of Jesus and that 2nd work is
Fire. The Word of God describes God as Fire. In Hebrews 12:29 says that God is a consuming fire.
When the children of Israel journeyed in the wilderness God was a pillar of fire by night as described in Exodus 13:21.
Fire is significant with purifying and cleansing according to Numbers 31:23, "Every thing that may abide the fire,
ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean" (KJV)
Even God's ministers are described as 'flaming fire'in Psalms 104:4.
Fire is mentioned 550 times in the Bible. So it safe to say that fire has means alot to God.
As a matter of fact, in the Old Testament, sacrifices that were accepted by the Lord God,
were consumed by fire (Leviticus 9:24).
The High Priest's were never to allow the fire on the altar to go out, but were to be kept burning. (Leviticus 6:12)
In the New Testament, on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Ghost fell on the disciples of Jesus Christ as 'Tongues like as of Fire'. (Acts 2:2-3).
Malachi 3:2, states that when God appears, that no man will be able to stand when he appears, because He will certainly have two striking atmospheric changing experiences. These experiences will be like a 'refiner's fire' and like a 'fuller's soap'.
Refinement means to remove impure or unwanted elements from a substance. Malachi indicates that this process will be performed
by fire.
Now here's the interesting part, the refinement by fire is also compared to fuller's soap.
We all know the purpose of soap! However, a fuller's soap has a little more meaning to it.
A fuller is someone who would beat or stomp an object of cleansing, which primarily was a cloth or some type
of clothing that had already been soaking in soap and water for a period of time.
The fuller would beat or stomp the object until the impurities are removed or the cloth would become clean.
In Malachi 3:3, the Word of God attributes this refining process a little more closely to a particular tribe.
This tribe is the Levite tribe. The refinement process is also symbolized as being similar to the process of refining gold and silver.
The process of refining metals like gold and silver is also completed by fire. Refining gold and silver by fire
also removes impurities and other traces of metal.
Malachi 3:4 seems to answer the purpose of the fire refinement and fuller's soap process. This purpose was so that the
offering to the Lord would be pleasant as in the former years.
So as we read in the book of Matthew 3:11, the promise from John the Baptist, was a promise of baptism. A baptism by the Holy Ghost, with fire.
My dear friend, I think it safe to say that we need this fire. This fire is going to consume our filth so that we can be pure and refined.
1st Peter 1:7 promises us that fire will come to try our faith, so that we can be prepared at the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ, our Bridegroom.
This Holy Ghost fire baptism will not destroy us, but will only refine us more as God's people. The intent is not to destroy us but to bring us closer to himself. To remove the toxic impurities of this world so that we can walk with Jesus.
Brother Job was tried by fire. And He gives us this simple reminder in 23:10, “But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” (KJV)
So friends let's be in position for the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and with fire. We need it!!!
